The world is a rapidly changing place and technology is the prime en-abler of such a change. Internet has been recognized as the most impactful technology of our times. The previous decade saw a phenomenal in-crease in power and reach of Internet. Today it raises issues of geopolitical importance as well which was much evident in the case of Google vs. the Chinese government. Social networking is another area which has seen much activity of late. Concerns regarding environment have be-come all the more important for IT firms as they face increasing levels of scrutiny. New product launches have become more and more common owing to faster obsolescence of technology.
It is with such a background that Systemix Club at IIFT presents the first issue of TECHTONIX. This is an effort to foster discussion on issues related to technology and business particularly Information Technology.
The cover story by Kshitija tracks down the models of software development and finds Agile Methodology to be the in thing. Shveta hums about the buzz surrounding the Google Buzz. Minal delves into the iPad launch and response of other competitors. Ankit discusses the recent initiatives of Facebook to have a better connect with its customers. Shilpa takes the spotlight on the importance of going green in IT. Sukrit talks about the Google-China standoff. Tech-Maze section hopes to rack the brains of tech buffs. The ‘Parting Note’ is a column trying to see things from a not-so-geek-like perspective.
